CASA Welcomes Second Student Association from Athabasca University

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, August 11 2015 – The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) is pleased to officially welcome the Athabasca University Students’ Union (AUSU) as a new member of the Alliance. AUSU was welcomed unanimously by the membership during the organization’s General Meeting on August 10th.

“It is a privilege to welcome AUSU to our organization as they represent students from every Canadian province and territory”, said Erik Queenan, Board Chair for CASA. AUSU is the second association from Athabasca University to join CASA and seventh overall member from Alberta.

Delegates from AUSU recently joined the membership in Ottawa in launching the year at CASA. “With the federal election right around the corner, our students deserve a national voice. The strength of CASA is due to its pan-Canadian approach to federal advocacy”, said Shawna Wasylyshyn, President of AUSU.

“We look forward to furthering our relationship with students from Athabasca University and working together to promote a more accessible and affordable post-secondary education system in Canada”, said Queenan.
