Policy and Strategy 2023: Setting the Stage for the Year's Advocacy Wins

Fredericton, July 17th 2023 - The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) kicked off their Policy and Strategy (PoliStrat) conference this morning in Fredericton, New Brunswick, hosted by The University of New Brunswick. This conference marks the fist step in CASA’s advocacy efforts for the 2023-2024 year.

Policy and Strategy is the second conference in CASA’s yearly conference cycle. It serves as the jumping off point for Board Members and Committees to conduct the work and advocacy efforts that will drive students at CASA for the year.

Having elected Board Members and made committee appointments at the previous conference, these elected officials will now present their action plans for the year. Students will consult, refine and eventually pass these plans at the end of the conference, ensuring the organization’s work is done with consensus and efficiency.

“This is a really exciting time of year for students at CASA,” says Sadie McAlear, chair of the board, “Board members get the chance to show off the hard work they’ve put in since being elected while giving membership the opportunity to get involved in their processes. Right now, students are setting the stage for some fantastic advocacy wins over the next year.”

The hard work that CASA delegates put in this week will be sure to have lasting effects for students across Canada. CASA would like to thank the University of New Brunswick for hosting this important conference on their campus this year.
