Zahide Çam

Director-at-Large, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion
Acadia Student Union
[email protected]

Zahide is an international student from Turkey entering her third year at Acadia University, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in Women’s and Gender Studies, and double minors in Philosophy and English. Her academic interests revolve around feminist and political philosophy, with a particular focus on storytelling and media practices that explore migration, identity, and social justice. Currently, she is writing her honours thesis on student leaders in governance and how their social media presence reflects their values and stances on women’s rights.

These interests directly inform her commitment to equity-driven student advocacy. With a deep passion for equity, diversity, and inclusion in student advocacy, Zahide currently serves as the Vice President Academic and External for the Acadia Students' Union, as well as the Vice-Chair of Students Nova Scotia and the Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at the Canadian Alliance of Student Associations.

Previously, Zahide was the Vice President Events and Promotions at Acadia Students' Union, and the Membership Chair of Students Nova Scotia. As the Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion at CASA, Zahide aims to create a welcoming space for all, a space where members can thrive as who they are while feeling a sense of belonging. She also focuses on providing adequate accommodations and providing the Gender Based Analysis for CASA policies. Zahide believes that EDI is not just a theory but also a day-to-day practice.
