Abdul Abbasi is the Chair of CASA and the Vice-President External of the University of Alberta Students’ Union. He is in his fourth year of a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Augustana Campus and is returning for a second term as VP External.
Over the past year, Abdul has chaired the Edmonton Student Alliance and represented students on key advocacy issues at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.
His involvement in student governance began in his first year as an off-campus councillor in his student faculty association. Since then, he has represented Augustana Campus at the Students' Union (UASU) and the General Faculties Council (GFC), the UofA’s Academic Senate.
During his term, Abdul aims to support the board in achieving its goals and collaborate with members to advance student priorities to the new federal government. He is looking forward to engaging with our federal representatives in order to raise the voices of students from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between.
Outside of academics and advocacy, Abdul enjoys watching sports and spending time with friends.
