Students’ Association of Mount Royal University
Shifrah is the returning President of the Students’ Association of Mount Royal University in Calgary, Alberta. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a minor in Women and Gender Studies. She also holds a Bachelors of Nursing (2014), and is currently a practicing registered nurse, working in the operating room and with the Calgary Communities Against Sexual Assault. She has a passion for advocacy and began by serving with the Student Nursing Society, many academic committees throughout her tenure as a student, and finally, as part of the Executive with her student association.
As Chair of CASA, Shifrah really hopes to elevate the experiences of marginalized communities and their intersection within post-secondary. This includes advocacy for Indigenous students, mature students, part-time students, students with disabilities, and so many more. With her background in health care, Shifrah hopes to continue her academic career pursuing a Masters of Public Policy, and eventually serving in the public sector. She is excited about working with students from across the country to better inform her future endeavours.
