CASA Welcomes New Board of Directors

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, May 30th, 2016 – The Canadian Alliance of Student Associations (CASA) welcomes the election of Johnathan Rix (University of Price Edward Island Student Union), Brandon Simmons (Athabasca University Students’ Union), Mikayla Schaffer (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology Students’ Association), Julia Wood (Brock University Students’ Union), Samuel Titus (St. Thomas University Students’ Union), Nicholas McGregor (Graduate Student Society of UBC Vancouver) and Tristan Bray (University of Calgary Students’ Union) to its Board of Directors. 

“As student leaders on their respective campuses, CASA’s Board members bring a wealth of personal and professional experience and are able to speak on numerous student and post-secondary related issues”, said Michael McDonald, Executive Director of CASA.

The 2016-2017 Board of Directors represent a variety of different student groups from undergraduate to graduate students, mature learners, distance education learners, and students from university and college institutions. “I’ve had the privilege of seeing CASA’s member-driven approach bring our membership together as a united front pushing for a more equitable and accessible post-secondary education system”, said Johnathan Rix, Board Chair for CASA.

The Board of Directors would like to express its appreciation and gratitude to their predecessors for their service and commitment to the organization and wishes them the utmost success in their future endeavours.
